Jedi Training Camp

Every hour from 12:15 to 3:15 was a fun
little "Jedi Training Camp" for kids. An area was marked off for kids (big and little) to gather
around. Then the Force theme
(we all know it's actually Ben's theme! <g>) played and a
brown robed figure appeared.
After he introduced himself as a Jedi Master, he removed
his outer robe and did a rather impressive sword kata complete with a couple of fancy leaps.
Verrrry niiice!! ;)
Then he picked about 10 kids at random from the audience
to become "Jedi Apprentices"
and taught them a cool combination of lightsaber moves. He had a great
amount of patience, especially considering how hot it was. :)
Then the Imperial March played and Darth Vader appeared!!
The Jedi Master then let each kid who wanted to (some of the
younger ones did NOT want to face
Vader!) try out their newly acquired skills in a carefully
choreographed duel with the Sith Lord. It was very cute! The girl to
the left was sooo into the whole thing!
She tried very hard,
learned the moves very quickly, and fought Vader as if she really
meant it.
A true Star Wars Chick in the making!! <g>
After the last kid had a chance to "defeat"
Vader, the Jedi Master told the Dark Lord
that none of these new apprentices would turn to the Dark Side
and that he should leave. Vader shook his fist and left in a swirl of black cloak. <g> Then
the Jedi Master told the kids
that they were now Padawans and gave each one a little
certificate. They then handed back their borrowed sabers and rejoined their
families. My son was too shy to volunteer. Ah well, he was
only five! :)
